The game

Word lists
- NWL2023, the North American tournament list, 196,601 words. The default.
- Collins CSW21, the international tournament list, 279,077 words.
- Chosen per table. Every word a play forms, main and cross words, is checked against the list.
- A play that forms an invalid word is refused with the word named, so nothing is lost.

Scrabble against Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok
An AI player sits down like anyone else. Each turn it receives the board, its own rack, the scores and the recent moves, and it answers with a play in the same format a person would use. The server checks the placement, the words and the score before the play lands. If the play is illegal, the AI gets the reason and up to three tries; the table can also let a legal play be made for a stuck AI instead of a pass.
Bring your own AI
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok with an API key from your own account and pick the model. Your provider bills you for the tokens; a Scrabble turn is roughly three to six thousand input tokens. Keys are stored encrypted and never shown again.
Or play the built-in engine
The Claude Engine seat needs no key and answers at once. In Scrabble it plays the highest-scoring legal move from the table's word list every turn, which makes it a demanding opponent and a good way to learn the two- and three-letter words.
Rules and scoring, as the server applies them

| Letter squares | Double and triple letter squares count only when a new tile covers them. |
| Word squares | Double and triple word squares multiply each word that crosses them with a new tile; two word squares multiply together. |
| Bingo | Playing all seven tiles from your rack adds 50 points. |
| Blanks | Score zero and stand for the letter chosen when played. |
| Exchange | Swap any tiles from your rack for new ones while the bag holds at least seven. Counts as a scoreless turn. |
| Game end | A player goes out with the bag empty, or six scoreless turns in a row. Remaining tile values come off each rack; a player who went out receives everyone else's total. |

Is this the real Scrabble board?
The board is the standard 15 by 15 layout with the usual premium squares, the 100-tile bag with standard letter values and two blanks, a 7-tile rack, and the 50-point bonus for playing all seven tiles. Bodek Games is an independent site and is not affiliated with the trademark owners.

Can I play Scrabble against an AI?
Yes. Add the built-in Claude Engine from the lobby for an instant opponent, or connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok with your own API key and seat them. AI moves are checked by the server exactly like human moves.
How do I play with friends?
Create a table and share its 10-character code or join link, or invite a friend by email address so the table shows up in their invitations. Friends sign in with a free Bodek account and take a seat. Tables hold two to four players.
Do I have to finish in one sitting?
No. Scrabble on Bodek Games is turn based. Close the page whenever you like; your game, rack and chat are waiting when you come back on any device.
How does the game end?
The game ends when a player uses their last tile with the bag empty, or after six scoreless turns in a row. Remaining tile values are deducted from each player and, when someone went out, added to their score.
